F2Pool Co-founder Wang Chun Opposes "Bundled" Bitcoin Protocol Upgrades

Wang Chun, the co-founder of the major mining pool F2Pool, has publicly voiced his opposition to several proposed enhancements to the Bitcoin protocol. The Critique of "Bundled Bill" Upgrades

In his analysis, Wang argued that several issues currently under discussion by developers lack the practical urgency to justify a hard or soft fork. He provided specific technical justifications for his stance:

• The threat of time warp attacks offers no substantial economic benefits to miners, making it a low-priority concern.
• Current block validation efficiency has already been optimized through advanced software libraries and high-performance hardware.
• The risk of forging confirmed transactions would require a fundamental breach of the SHA256 hashing algorithm.

Wang noted that if SHA256 were to be compromised, the underlying security of the entire Bitcoin network would be lost, making small protocol tweaks irrelevant in the face of such a catastrophic failure.

Focusing on Rector Transactions

Despite his skepticism toward the broader upgrade packages, the F2Pool executive identified rector transactions as a legitimate area for technical repair. He characterized these as one of the few issues possessing genuine repair value within the ecosystem. By focusing on specific, high-impact fixes rather than broad "bundles", Wang advocates for a conservative development philosophy that prioritizes the core integrity of the Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism over incremental or cosmetic changes.
