Emi Yoshikawa, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Operations at Ripple, expressed her excitement about the recent XRPL initiative by the well-known Japanese giant, SBI Holdings. In a comment on X's social media platform, she described it as a "huge" step forward.

SBI's plan involves utilizing the XRP Ledger to issue NFT tokens for attendees of Expo 2025, the upcoming World Expo to be held in Osaka, Japan. Visitors will be able to obtain NFTs depicting the MYAKU-MYAKU character, the official mascot of EXPO, by visiting the Expo and completing various tasks. Additional NFTs will be available to users of the Expo mobile application.

It's worth noting that the event is expected to attract 28 million participants. Vet, an XRPL validator, expressed the opinion that incorporating XRPL NFTs will need to significantly increase their visibility and demonstrate their ability to serve "real-world purposes."

World Expos, which aim to promote scientific, economic, and technological progress, are held every five years. The last one took place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in 2020, and the previous one was in Milan, Italy, in 2015. The first World Expo was held in London, United Kingdom, in 1851, and since the 1920s, they have been regulated by the Bureau International des Expositions based in Paris.

The World Expo planned for April to October 2025 in Osaka will focus on saving, empowering, and connecting people. It will take place on an artificial island in Osaka Bay, near the mouth of the Yodo River.

The XRPL initiative related to Expo 2025, promoted by the Japanese giant SBI Holdings, has sparked enthusiasm among Ripple leaders and the cryptocurrency community. The plan to use the XRP Ledger to issue NFT tokens at the World Expo in Osaka promises immense possibilities, with an expected number of 28 million visitors. This is another step in recognizing the potential of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies on the international stage.
