Robert F. Kennedy Jr. - U.S. Budget on the Blockchain

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a candidate for President of the United States, has suggested placing the national budget on a public blockchain.

During his rally in Michigan on April 21, Kennedy emphasized that moving the U.S. budget onto the blockchain would allow citizens to access any budget item at any time.

According to Kennedy, integrating the budget with blockchain technology would significantly increase transparency. As an example, he stated, "If someone is spending $16,000 on a toilet seat, everyone will know about it."

Implementing this proposal would enable American taxpayers to track where funds are being spent. The idea has gained recognition in some circles of the cryptocurrency community, where some believe it will help to end corruption.

However, some critics suggest that Kennedy is using this proposal to promote his agenda regarding central bank digital currency (CBDC). According to one user, the government will not be able to track all budget transactions without introducing "another currency unit," such as CBDC.

Nevertheless, Kennedy, known for supporting decentralization, has previously expressed concerns about introducing CBDC in the USA, calling it a "disaster for human rights and civil liberties."

He is also one of the few presidential candidates who publicly endorsed Bitcoin. During the Bitcoin 2023 conference in Miami, he announced that his campaign would accept donations in Bitcoin (BTC). Kennedy also admitted to purchasing Bitcoin last year.

While some regulators support cryptocurrencies, they still remain the subject of intense debate worldwide. However, blockchain technology has begun to be implemented in various sectors of the public sector, and the regulatory approach to it is open.
