Cryptocurrencies May 7, 2024 0 Add to reading list In recent days, there has been a hot update regarding the long-standing dispute between Ripple and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

On May 6, 2024, the SEC filed a response to the remedial measures and attachments under seal. These documents may contain confidential information that is not yet ready for public disclosure. Although they are currently sealed, we expect that a redacted version will be released soon.

What does this mean?

We eagerly await these redacted versions as they may shed light on the SEC's arguments and what the consequences might be for Ripple and the XRP cryptocurrency.

On May 7, 2024, a meeting between Ripple and the SEC is scheduled to decide which portions of the documents will be redacted.

On May 8, 2024, the SEC also plans to disclose a public, redacted version of its response, while adhering to the expectations of both parties.

On May 13, 2024, both sides will have to present their arguments regarding the sealing of materials related to the remedial measures.

On May 20, 2024, the parties and any third parties will file letter objections to the joint motions.

As per the joint motion, the parties will also be required to submit public, redacted versions of all documents within 14 days of the court's rulings on the motions for protective order.

In the meantime, we await the final decision of the court and speculate on its implications for Ripple, the XRP cryptocurrency, and the entire cryptocurrency market.
